How It Works
The card is your excuse, your icebreaker, and your conversation starter all in one.Find someone you don't know
The person you run into in the hallway every other day. The stranger in the elevator. Any friend you haven't met yet. Pull a card.
Do the thing together
A challenge, a question, a debate, a compliment. Low stakes, high serendipity. Let the card do the talking.
Give the card away
The card is theirs to keep. A memento of a connection that almost didn't happen. One card, one new person.
Why We Made This
We made this because nobody knows how to talk to anyone anymore. People are lonelier than ever and the most connected they've ever been. You'll fire off DMs all day, but talking to someone in person? Terrifying. The people you see every single day. The strangers quietly living lives as complex and intricate as yours. Maybe you two have a lot in common. You'll never know, because neither of you says anything. Everyone just stays in their own world.
And yet, meeting a stranger is the single most serendipitous thing you can do.**
So what if you didn't stay in yours? What if you said hey, and that person inspires you to finally do the thing you've been thinking about for months. Maybe they can solve the oddly specific problem you've got. Maybe they're having a party tomorrow, they invite you, and you meet your person there.
That's why this deck exists. It's an excuse. A deck full of reasons to say the first word. For a lifelong friendship, a friendship that lasts exactly one night, and everything in between.
The goal is to give the cards away.
Two Ways to Play

The Fine Print
Officially Acquainted is not responsible for any lifelong friendships, friendships that later go sideways, bringing a snake into your friend group, relationships that turn into heartbreak, heartbreak that turns into a great story, cheating (at cards or otherwise), or any other outcome that can result from meeting a complete stranger.
** Within reason. Take proper precautions and trust your gut, obviously.
Play responsibly. Extend grace. Remember that every person you meet is out here doing their best, just like you.
